Does anyone have any suggestions on growing these? I have had mine in the ground for about two years now with only one new leaf. Its only about 18" tall. I am wondering if it is the soil. I dont remember amending the soil very well so that could be the culprit.

Thanks.

I planted three of these from 3 gallon size about 6 years ago. Now, they are about 30' overall! Two actually blew over in Hurricane Wilma, I righted them up, and they never skipped a beat. They have bloomed, but as far as I can tell...there is no ripe fruit to date. I am not certain if it is because they don't get enough sun, squirrels eat the seed, or it is a nutrient deficiency.

I love this palm...fast growing, small enough for a tight garden, and lends a tropical look. It was 36F in my garden and they showed no signs of damage. The only draw back are typical with Syagrus genera....holds dead fronds and weak rooted.

I have fairly alkaline soils that I have amended with years of mulch. They receive regular irrigation and fertilizer.
