Summer Palm Party at My Place on Sat, Aug 28

Featured Replies

Many of you visited last summer, apparently to good reviews. I'm hoping even more of you can make it this year. The garden is a little behind where it should be (e.g. the Spathodeas and heliconias are behind on their blooms), but it still looks pretty nice. You can check out the new Jubaea, the driveway lined with Roystoneas, the front garden full of Chambeyronias, all the Bamboo, Proteas, Flowering Trees, etc.

There will also be a big BBQ, the famous (infamous?) blue punch, the Shiznit, music, TV, perhaps some drunken lawn bowling, good times all around.

My address is 1789 Hartwright Road, Vista, CA 92084. Just swing by any time after 2pm on Saturday the 28th. Hope to see you all there!

For those who've not been, go to Justinian's place, it rocks!

Lovely garden, great hospitality!

Not to be missed!

I won't be able to make it, but I can host a palm/pool/punch/BBQ party here in Oklahoma. PM me for location.

Maybe we can have palmtalk palm parties all over the world on that date? --Erik

?Snag? = translation please. I could guess, but would rather not.

Wishing you a good and fun California experience! You should make a Hawaii Island stop on your way back to Australia. After all it's on the route back.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

Tassie is Tasmania (the island under Australia there) and Aussie is Australian in general...lol. Snag is sausage.. Isn't australian a beautiful language??

Regards, Ari :)

There will be lots of snags, and lots of alcohol - we'll try to avoid any technicolor yawns.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Alright party people, just two days away. If you could, please send me a PM (or reply to this message) with an RSVP, so I can get the appropriate amount of food and drink. If you're a maybe, just respond with a 1/2.

See you all on Saturday!

Glad I saw a remark about this today. I remembered it is the 28th....

But for some reason it stuck in my head as Sunday. :(

Hot and dry in the summer, cold with light frost in the winter. Halfway between the desert and ocean

A great day was had here with the society outing in Nambour Palm Fascinations, our special ratpack plus reunite meeting with Craig and his amazing technicolour dream garden and back to my place for a bbq and commemorative planting of an Arenga pinatta.
