does D. baronii inflorescence attract more bees?

This year five trunks are in bloom but the bee population is similar to a Queen's when flowering. At first I thought a wayward queen bee had made a home there and a hive was developing. This hasn't happened before. Normal?

Hmm.

I've found that palms don't get many blossoms when they bloom for the first time, which affects the number of bees that visit.

I'll bet your palm's coming into its own and really getting its flowers on, so to speak.

Davey lad, these guys are really buzzing. I thought it odd to see such activity at daybreak. Thanks for the tip though, this is only their 3rd flowering. ThumbsUp.gif

Thanks Bob. I couldn't get close enough to stick my beak in there to get a whiff due to all the bees.
