BANNED MEMBERS

Featured Replies

Some of you may notice a few PalmTalk members with the Group Designation of "Stumphead." These are members who for one reason or another have been permanently banned from PalmTalk. This is done instead of totally deleting them, with all their posts, and leaving "holes" in all of the topics that they have posted in.

The most recent member you may notice with this designation is "Larabie." When Larabie registered, he was already a PalmTalk Member under another name. He apparently was using this duplicate account as a means to further promote palms he was offering for sale. The deceptive and underhanded manner in which this apparent self promotion was carried out was not only unethical, but egregious enough to warrant a 2 week suspension of the PalmTalk Member in question, and the "Stumpheading" of his bogus duplicate account.

PalmTalk is a meeting place set up by the IPS in order to share knowledge and help one another enjoy a satisfying involvement in all aspects of growing palms. All things done on PalmTalk should be done with this "Spirit of PalmTalk" in mind. Behavior that runs contrary to this "Spirit" is not welcome.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.

Are we alowed to ask who was Larabie?

i have a name in my had, though.

Yeah, I wonder who Larabie was? Oh well, we'll probably never know. But it would be nice because I wouldn't wanna do business with someone like that.

Wasn't larabie an old tv western ?

You guys are sharp. "Ken" and "Cuckoo" are the latest additions to the "Stumpheads."

"Cuckoo" was the third identity of the same member that used "Larabie." And "Ken" was a duplicate membership of one of his buddies.

I would prefer not to be the one to "out" these guys, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out. Neither of them will be posting during their 2 week suspensions. It wasn't just the fact that these were duplicate memberships. But they were being used in a manner that was inconsistent to the atmosphere the IPS is trying to cultivate on PalmTalk.

If any of you had any questionable interactions with these bogus "members," or have any other additional information that may interest me, please send me a PM.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.

If you notice, Cuckoo posted at 6:06PM and looking at the Stumphead list, he was added at 6:06PM. Can't get much faster than that. Thanks Deano.

Three Stumpheads added today, Ken, Cuckoo and Larabie. Probably all the same guy.

It is a little known fact that "The Dewd Abides" and I are in fact one and the same. It is a carefully constructed ruse that I have benn able to pull off with nobody noticing. Think about it, has anybody ever seen the two of us together at the same time? The trickiest part was getting Matty to post all those pics of my alter ego.

oh i get it now what you meant... about spelling abilities... your're wright.

Now if i can ask Dean:

If they have a 2-week suspension then:

It could be considered a "Three Strikes You're Out" policy. Those members who can not abide by the few and simple guidelines we have here will be issued an unofficial warning to make sure they understand they are in danger of receiving an "official" warning. The first official warning will result in a one week suspension, the second is a two week suspension, and with a third one you're gone. Your can view your "Warning" status under your name, next to your posts.

Does it mean that one of them (or both) have 2 strikes? One more and they're gone?

Yep

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.

It's sort of like Superman's alter ego except this Kent ain't no newspaper reporter.

There have been several nefarious characters in the IPS and local groups over the years and I am sure there will be more. Thats why we have rules and moderators and such.

One of the more noticeable people was just outed by the New Times paper in Miami. They are on line.

Funny thing about advertising in this forum is that while it is nice exposure it is not what I would call a hot spot for sales. It is fairly easy for palm nuts to find material these days and this forum does help. Just watch out for the deal that sounds to good to be true.

And another one bites the dust.

In case you may have missed the thread, another member has been suspended for using multiple accounts to interact with his buddies who did the same. The latest alias was "ChuckysBride" and the member was another cohort of the recent group who has been causing most of the trouble around here lately.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.

Is is sad that we can almost fill a "member page" with past and present Stumpheads, but it consists of much less "actual people"?

What does it all mean? I'm so confused.

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Wow! I have not had the time to stay up with the forum lately. In doing so, I guess I have missed out on drama and many great discussions, photos, and ideas. Again, thanks Dean for being an outstanding moderator. Who knew you might have to use skills early childhood educators always hope they do not have to use. My mother is a director of a private preschool in San Diego. As such, she has had extensive training for dealing with unruly children. In all her years of experience, she has utilized her child problem management skills, in an overwhelmingly large proportion, as a tool to deal with "adult" parents. Comically, some of her preschool students tell problem parents that they are headed for a timeout if they continue their bad behavior. It seems early childhood education can give important tools for making the transition to adulthood. Unfortunately, it seems some of us forget how important these foundational tools are.

I am heartened to know that the majority of forum members carry the spirit of the International Palm Society with them and reflect the passion and jubilation palm trees can bring to ones life.
