The last specie I found in this reserve is Actinokentia divaricata.

I was sure I took a pic for A.divaricata and C.bracteale very close together. But could not find it. I wanted to illustrate what they mean in the book by they often grown together. Anyway here are some pics of A.divaricata growing there.

In the book they said A.divaricata and C.bracteale are very close together in aspect.

here is how to make the difference :

C.bracteale is showing some white on the crownshaft. Crownshaft is a little bit triangular. A.divaricata show a very well formed crownshaft.

A.divaricata show channeled petioles.

A.divaricata show thick marginal (extern) nerves on leaflets like Kentiopsis and Chambeyronia.

C.bracteale produce black round fruits. A.divaricata produce red "oblong" fruits.

Hope you appreciate all the pics. I made another trip today to look at some B.deplancheii. Will start a new thread about those one later.

It was a gift from New Caledonia. Can it be the same form?

Mine is in semi-desert full sun since youth.

See, the whole plant is here: http://www.palmtalk.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=13106&pid=372367&st=40&#entry372367

A PRA might be "Actividad Palmeril" ... en Las Canarias.

I wish MatNC was here to add some comments.

Matt, great habitat pics. Those are some real wide leaf Chambeyronia. My NC palms have weathered the Florida freezes very well. All my Chambeyronia M.& Kentiopsis O., from seedling to 18' look great after this very cold winter. Most have OAK canopy, which kept the frost off them. They have proven themselves as Florida palms. Your the only one I have seen w/ pics from NC, keep them comming!

Am I the only one who cannot see any of the New Cal photos? It's just a white box with a red 'x' under all of the photos put up by MatNC... Really wish I could see some of these!

How do you view the pictures? When trying to open all I get is a white square with a sectord ring going round and round

This is what usually happens when the photos are not uploaded to this site - but instead are linked to photos on another site. This is just one of the reasons why we constantly encourage unloading photos here directly, and using the thumbnails - even if they are already on another site. Then the photos can not be removed, or have their URLs changed.

Perhaps the original poster will realize he has altered/removed the originals, otherwise there is not much that can be done.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.
