Weeding happens....sometimes....occasionally

Looking good Bill. That mulch works great for controlling the weeds, but so does the thick planting on the front too and not allowing much light to get in and encourage weeds to grow.

I am lucky to ha green waste recycling center about 1-2 miles away. They have $2 truckload Saturdays and I just get whatever medium stuff they have...

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

That is a blessing. Organic material works its way into that clay soil. They earth worms start working their magic. Drainage improves and will continue to improve with continual mulching. Improving soil with organic green waste, can't see a downside. :greenthumb: :D

Its definitely looking different since when I started. I probably have 75% or more of the weeds under control in the front yard.

This shows the benefits of mulching.... I've probably only mulched 5 or 6 times..maybe 7. and fertilized less than that since starting to plant out the front.

In the beginning ....
