A friend and collector in Rio de janeiro has a nice Lipstick that shows a distinguish orange hue, instead of the common deep red. I guess this palm came from SE Asia as a seedling. Is anyone else growing this variety? Or is it maybe another species?

By the way, the Encyclopedia of cultivated Palms (Riffle and Craft's) mentions the existence of 9 species of Cyrtostachys but I've never heard from anyone in this board about the other 7, or seen pictures, except renda and elegans. Among them, the book describes C. glauca, kisu, loriae and peekeliana. Anyone has pictures of these other species? Thanks.

Gileno,

I don't have any of the orange ones. Just doesn't appeal to me! As far as I'm concerned a C. renda should have as much red color as possible! And instead of adding photos of other Cyrtostachys species here (where people may not necessarily look for them), I'm starting a new thread. :)

If only I can find some of those... I can plant them in between my red ones... Wouldn't that be good in 10 years or so, when they are mature. Red, Orange, Red, Orange, Red. Better yet, if I can find variegated ones....

Regards, Ari :)

Thanks for the information folks.

I agree with Bo that the regullar red ones are much more appealing...well, I wouldn't mind having a few orange ones anyway...at least until the Dypsis orange crush small seedlings (that I got from our president) start showing up their crownshaft here too... :winkie:

I agree with Ari here and would love to have a line-up of the different colors with these yellow/gold ones as well.
