next on the agenda was a visit to the ubud botanical garden.its a new garden & i visited last year but i wanted to check the progress.

wayan II joined me & he told me the local names & uses of many of the plants we saw.

it was probably the hottest & most humid day of the trip & the girls only lasted about 1/2 hr. before asking wayan I

to drive them back to the hotel to hit the pool.

i never knew they were gone till the end.

Should go across to Darwin next year, Paul. It is rather different to Bali, but still very interesting indeed. It is cheap to fly from Bali to Darwin. And if you feel brave, go across to Cairns from Darwin. Another interesting place....

Awesome pics Paul! And how cool to have the local Wayan bros as your tour guides. It's funny that they use the single trunk form of Dypsis Madagascariensis (Lucabensis) alot in Bali. When we were in Tahiti which was not that palm rich for such a tropical place there were tons of Lucabensis everywhere. They use them as street trees much as Cali uses Queens, Kings and Washies. The girls were troopers to put up with the botanical garden as long as they did. I've been to the one on the big island twice now and can't even get Steph to go and my daughter Martika would MUCH rather be laying out by a pool Kona side. Good stuff Paul! More pics

Urban Rainforest Palms,Cycads and Exotics. Were in San Diego Ca. about 5 miles from the beach on Tecolote canyon. It seems to be an ideal growing climate with moderate temps. and very little frost. Vacation Rental in Leilani Estates, big island Hi PM me if interested in staying there.
