Hello, fellow palm lovers. The heat and humidity here drives people bonkers but that doesn't usually happen till August or September and it's only June. However, In Deland, FL, a guy tried to rob a convenience store using a palm frond as his weapon (gimme the money or I'll stab you). Fortunately, the store clerk wasn't injured and the robber (already dressed in black/white prison stripes) was captured. What abuse of a poor palm. I hope this link works because there's video, too. Extra points to palmophile who IDs the species.

LOL. I saw that today at work. We always have CNBC on and when I turned and looked at the TV I saw some man holding what looked like a Livistona Chinensis frond. There are some real looney tunes in this world. Makes me wonder how mankind has survived this long.

After watching the video a second time it just looks even more idiotic. And thats definitely not a Livistona frond, thats just the first thing that came to mind.
