Howdyall:

Happened to be surfing a bit, and found this website relating to Levy County, Florida.

I must say, the Levyites have a sense of humor, to admit all of this in a web site . . . .

"Levy County and   its  first  County Seat, Levyville,  was named  for  him in 1845, prior to  his  changing  his name to David Levy Yulee.  Except  for  a  matter  of  timing,  our county would  have  been named Yulee County.  Levyville was first called Sodom, then later Mount Pleasant, but at  a  meeting of  the  Board of County Commissioners in 1856, it was ordered to be named Levyville."

After that, the seat was moved to Bronson.

Anyone have any idea why the seat was called Sodom?

All I can say is, Levy County is where I was arraigned on the now infamous (in these parts anyhow) multiple Stone Crab violations.

You don't want to mess around with the law in Levy County.

As my friend Phillip___ (who is a more than 30 year, very well respected attorney in Florida) put it: Levy County is, on the scale of 1-9, about the 7th level of Hell as far as the court system goes. You don't want to be found guilty of ANYTHING in Levy County."

The crown jewel of Levy County is Cedar Key. Google it.

Word has it that Levy changed his name to Yulee because he was taken by a young lady whose father was a Catholic and not in favor of her marrying into the Leviyittes clan.Well,the Yulee's,that's a whole other story.Being that he was a State Senator and all.

Sodom is a whole other story.Florida is littered with towns of inexplicable if not out of the ordinary names.Some are Indian(Native)like Micanopy.Supposedely named after an Indian, who had trouble going to the bathroom.Reddick,well...

As a lawyer,I have always had a secret desire to do a levy in Levy County.I may have to take it Pro Bono but it is on my bucketlist.

We had a young lady lawyer in our office whose name was Efrat Levy.

Imagine -- she does a levy in Levy county . . . . .And heaven help us if the judgement debtor's name is Levy!

Dave, Please tell your colleague that I would enjoy co-counseling with her so as to complete a levy by Levy in Levy County.I have a friend here with the last name of Levy,who prehaps if allowed the appropriate indemnities,would agree to act as judgment debtor.In this manner, we could complete the perfect storm leaving us with the perhaps a bonus of a self imposed Mandamus.Now of course that is a whole other story...

Notice how the other deputies didn't even give a [expletive] this sort of thing is no big deal.  The mucky-mucks OBVIOUSLY condoned this type of thing, except when it happens on camera!  Abu gharib?  Rampart scandal?  Gimme a break . . .
