Everyone: I am delighted to announce that we are having our first meeting in Los Angeles County in about four years. Our March 16, 2024 meeting will be at the home and garden of Sergio at 13811 Philadelphia Street, Whittier CA 90601. This will be the third time we have visited Sergio's garden, and we were long overdue. Sergio started the garden back in 2008 and had it fully planted out by 2010. Overall, there's 150 palms and 50 cycads, for a real glorious jungle, plus a big palapa by the waterfall pool, and a palapa in the pool. A true Palm-Themed Scream Dream. The Palm Beach Palm & Cycad Society will be having its fall sale on Saturday Oct.20 and Sunday Oct.21. The sale will be at the Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach Fl. The Hrs. are 9am-4pm Sat. & 9am-3pm Sun. Admission is free during the sale. This is a small but really nice garden and is well worth the trip. There will be many great palms and cycads for sale, plus Fert., Books, etc, plus free advice.

Our July 15, 2023 meeting will be at two gardens in "the OC"; Jerry and Alma Cabeje and Michael and Susan McGuire; the former in Santa Ana and the latter in Costa Mesa. Garden One: The Home and Garden of Jerry and Alma Cabeje, 2701 Glenarbor Street, Santa Ana, CA 92704. Front garden features a Bismarckia flanked by Pritchardia and Trachycarpus. There are numerous companion plants such as bromeliads, succulents, cactus and more jam-packed around more than 80 palm species in a standard city lot. There will be a general membership meeting of the SFPS on Monday night April 1st., at 7:00 pm, at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in the Corbin Room. Fairchild is located at 10901 S. Cutler Road, Coral Gables, FL. Dr. Aaron J. Palmateer of TREC will give a program on " New Insect Pests and Diseases Affecting Plant Nursery and Landscape Industries ". OUR MAY 20, 2023 MEETING IN RIVERSIDE CALIFORNIA BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN We have not forgotten about you-all in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles Counties! During the Covid pandemic, LA and Riverside and San Bernardino Counties had difficulty managing protocols and it was evident that planning meetings in places like them was risky because there was no telling whether or not a county directive might have required us to call off the meeting at the last moment because of a spike in cases. Don't miss the Brisbane Palm and Cycad Society meeting on Tuesday the 25th November, at Milton State School library, 7:30pm. Wal Donovan is giving a pictorial presentation on the world famous Fairchild gardens in Miami. The International Palm Society biennial was held in Miami in June of this year and a visit to these gardens was a highlight of the biennial. A big contingent of BPACs members attended so look for familiar faces. Your roving Biennial reporter with Brazilians Gileno and Alberto at Fairchild.
