The Police (not the boys in blue) came to Perth last night for an open air concert . I never thought I'd ever see them reform, so it was one of those things I was glad to see. It was a hot night, still around 30C at 10.30pm. The Police played most of their well known stuff as well as their less known stuff like Invisible Sun and Synchronicity II. It was a great concert on a real hot summers night. Fergie was the support act.

You lucky dog! They played here months ago but not in Orlando, just in Tampa. I didn't go as the only seats I could get were way up in the last section. It was a scam, the company that handles ticket sale (Ticketf'er). The day the tickets went on sale at 10am I was online and the best seats I could get were 3 rows from the very back.

Fergie???? what sh***y opening for the Police. Here, Sting's son's band opened.

its the year for '80s rock bands; Van Halen is here in a few weeks, Rush in April and U2's new album should be out in Oct. but they have a 3D Imax film out now, going to see that tommorow.

So how long did they play? "King of Pain" is my favorite song.

They last played in Orlando in summer 1983 at the Tangerine Bowl (now Citrus Bowl) on the Synchronicity Tour. Damn, that was a long time ago, I was in between 9th and 10th grade.

i saw them here in san diego in the early 80s on the synchronicity tour, also.oingo boingo opened.it was alotta fun but i think their albums(the police) got worse & worse as they went along.

the band i am happiest about having seen is XTC.they had a few hits in the US.i saw their LAST CONCERT date in the states ever,i guess the singer had severe stagefright & couldn't handle it.great band, tho.amazing songwriting.

anybody else like them or even remember them?

I remember XTC well, they had a huge hit in the early 80's "Senses working overtime" . Still regularly played on FM radio here in Australia.

I remember XTC. I go to an 80's newwave/alternative nightclub on Sat. nights and they occaisionally play "Dear God" or maybe "Mayor of Simpleton".

The XTC songs I remember most are "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead", and "I'm the Man Who Murdered Love". The second song was brilliant.

They played for two hours. "King of Pain" is an incredible song. There is no other song like it. I wish they played "Spirits In The Material World", but it was probably too hard to perform live.

The Police actually had two supporting acts. The first one was from Fictionplane which was Sting's sons band, and then it was Fergie. Gotta luv those lady lumps. :)

Fergie aint my thing. About 25% of her concert was waggling her bum at the audience. I can go to the zoo for that.

Tyrone,

I saw the Police last May in New Orleans and it was one of the best concerts I've been to in a long time. I am about to head out the door for the Van Halen concert tonight. I had front row Van Halen tickets in 1984 or 85 and got grounded a few days before the concert. I begged my mom to let me go, but she wouldn’t let me. Finally I’ll get to see them - glad David Lee Roth is with them on this tour.

Van Halen plays here Thurs., Valentine's Day. I think there are still tickets but my girfriend isn't big on going to a VH concert.
