PALMS THAT CAN TAKE THE HEAT

19 days in a row of triple digit heat, 101 to 107 daily. bottle palm holding in there, it gets water every day.

you have to water just about every day , today 103, it just want end, it has not rained in a long time, in my area,

Everything looks lush and green. We rarely get to 100 degrees here, but plenty of humidity.

thanks jeff, man its just wears on you day after day, the lows at night are 79 to 84 deg, it got to break sooner are later, it is down to watering one day a week on lawns , my yard does not look so good, i would rather water my palms than the grass,

I think most underestimate how well most palms will take the heat if they have adequate water. Unfortunately, in California's 100+ heat, it takes a lot of frequent watering resulting in very high water bills. It gets difficult to keep turning on that water when your bills start approaching half of your mortgage. But skimping for even a day or two in 100+ degrees can leave evidence of your neglect for a year or more.

I think the news here said yall had 40 days above 100 so far?

weve only been in the low-middle 90's lately but with all the humidity, sheesh it seems hot.  I am forced to water everyday, not only because of the heat but, moreso because the sand holds 0 water from day to day...

It costs more in water than I want to admit to keep things green in this combo of heat and sand.

This is a recent one of our suffering.

"Half your Mortgage"?  Boy Dean, I can tell you've had your California House paid in full for a LONG time!!!!   lol

Had plenty of heat out West.... set local record with three days at 111!

You've got cheap water there in Texas!

I know people here who probably pay about three times that amount for a place like yours.

These do take the heat well.  Here in La La Ha Ha, that heat wave that fried the Rhopies and Howeas gave the Hyphorbes a much-needed dose of steroids.

Yours look great.  They do, I'm sure you know, HATE the cold, and croak easy.

My two biggies almost died, and 30 babies did.  Sad, but lesson learned. . . .

The reclaimed water here is almost as good!

In some areas, it is $7/mo for UNLIMITED USE and is completely unmetered!  

In my part of town, it is metered, but is less than a tenth of a penny per gallon.  Thats still cheap when one considers it also covers all the pumping energy and infrastructure required to get that water on my lawn/plants/palms.

100$ seems about right assuming that includes the sewer like most places.  mine generally is 100-120 and doesnt include sewer (which around here is 1/2 the bill)

I like growing things in the sand until I get the freakin water bill

I wish I could find a way to reclaim the rainwater or even better yet (cheapley) desalinize some of this ocean!
