A pandanus that is all over the coast line of northern New South Wales. Growing right down to edge of coast just out of the tidal zone, that was s exposed to the elements of the ocean.

They will grow further inland and I have them in my garden. You see them a lot in coastal towns. And they can get quite large taking up a lot of space. Seeds are easy to collect, to propagate you just leave them on top of the soil, preferably sandy soil with a little mulch on top of them.

A nice pandanus that is worthy of any garden!

Great photos! For whatever reason pandans are hard to come by in Florida. Managed to get about a dozen seedlings of these and they are the fastest growing plants in my nursery. Hoping they can stand up to some occasional cold. Looking at these habitat photos I definitely need to clear some space around them though!

There was one at Hollis, but I think it is gone. They are like baby alligators - they don't stay cute and cuddly for long.

Australia is a beautiful country! They do take a bit of cold not snow white frost but cool temperatures yes. Give them room though. If you want seeds I know where you can get them!

There were a few large ones at Leu, but I haven’t been back to see if they survived. Got sawed up pretty good planting that first one, sure to be a toddler magnet soon

Definitely high on our travel list. My dad spent 2 years in Brisbane area while in the Navy and talked highly of life there. Trying one under some canopy and hoping for a few mild winters. I might have to get with you one day for those seeds!

Drop in anytime, Brisbane is about 3 hours drive south, to where I live. It’s a beautiful part of the world. If you can grow a Bangalow you will be able to grow the pandanus. Imagine the seeds your father could have gotten you back in the day in the navy!
