Every single day was above the mean high in July in Cork City this year—only two days with highs below 21 C this July—nice to see these well-sited Birds of Paradise finally blooming on the edge of the city.

A really neat climate for somewhere at a latitude of almost 52^o

Probably fairly expensive to live there given the comfy climate.

Nice. What was your average maximum there for July? I am guessing you guys had record breaking heat and sunshine?

The July average maximum in central London was over 30C / 86F. The St James Park Met station is gone now but I am seeing PWS's with 30-31C ave maximums and a 22C average, which puts it as Csa (hot-summer Med), like in July 2022. Obviously zero rainfall for London in July just gone too. 330 hours of sunshine.

Makes me think parts of the area could support some highland chrysalidocarpus, and other cooler growing but daytime warmth tolerant palms. Dicipiens and baronii come to mind, but there are many others, smaller ones for fitting in sheltered spots from winter and wind.

24.0C was the average high for July, which is running >5.0 C above the norm. We accumulated 270.5 base 10C GDDs when the average is close to 160. Precipitation was hardly over 1mm, so it looks like the year will likely qualify as Csb, warm-summer med, unless August is miraculously >22 C and/or gets loads of rain (unlikely). January was very rainy this year so I think this will be a Csb year.

Will have to look at those, I have seen Juania, Rhopalostylis and Parajubaea as well as Cocoid hybrids in littoral/perfect urban locations (and have pondered Ceroxylon), but that is a new species to me.
