I’m having a really hard time keeping these transplanted canaries alive. I’m not seeing nearly as much issues with my date palms but these canaries have been difficult.

i planted 32 palm trees on May 13-15th.

I have 6, 4gph emitters on each palm tree & started running it at 30/30/30 so about 36 gallons of water per day. And I had 4, 4gph emitters on my med fans running the same time.

Everything looked good up until week 8 and then I was told to bring water down to 20/20/20 but then we got hit with the heat wave of over 110 for days.

Now they are on the decline.

I have recently this week bumped water to 45/45/45 to fight the heat wave and now I’m just waiting.

36 gallons per tree, or yard?

36 gallons per palm. I have a lot of palms. So I didn’t want to over water the established ones but right now I ended up bumping the water up to 50 gallons per tree because I am testing the soil and with this record high heat wave the soil is getting dry.

I know they say if the soil is squishy at the bottom it’s too much water but when the soil is relatively squishy that’s when my transplanted palms look the best.

I keep losing canaries but the the canaries that are closest to my grass all survived and I’m convinced it’s because they are getting even more water from my sprinkler system a foot away watering my grass

It will take a while this time of year. This year , in particular , has been a very hot July. Keep the watering and by Fall you should see some improvement. As soon as night time temps drop a bit. Harry

Some are totally gone. I know that but I am hoping the ones I attached make it. It’s such a pain transplanting them this big. Everything around it gets destroyed.

The few I attached look totally pale. I don’t even see green in the middle. I am going to untie them next week. Can they recover still if the spear is solid but it’s totally pale or do I need green fronds to expect a recovery?
