Cocos nucifera on Mallorca Spain

Featured Replies

A resident of Mallorca Spain sent me pictures of coconut palms growing on Mallorca. There were large healthy thriving groves and some growing at Palma (a major beach party town in the Mediterranean). I stated this on a popular search engine. All of the sources said this was impossible (citing the common knowledge about C. nucifera). Do you believe your eyes or common opinion?

That many growing in a Mediterranean climate is unbelievable.

That is definitely not Spain and not Mallorca! 100% not

YES !

As a resident of the island for the past 7 years I can confirm there are no groves of coconut trees here, and those photos are not of Mallorca.

Chances are you are confusing the city of Palma with the island La Palma in the Canaries

They have coconut groves like that in isla canarias?

The first pic could be from the canaries, but I've not seen coconuts that lush and with a full crown like in the second pic on any Canary Island I visited.

London Z9a. Soon(ish) to be Canary Islands Z12.
