Nursery business help

Featured Replies

Hello! So recently I’ve collected tons of seeds from a Florida trip and plan to buy and germinate more, so from other people experience is it more profitable and worth it to sell palms at a juvenile stage or older? I’m in highschool and graduating actually exactly three years from now so I’d probably have to sell mostly everything by then and would probably be gone because I really really want to move out and travel. I’d like any advice from anyone, I’m probably not shooting for full time job nursery (though I’d love that) I just don’t believe in myself enough and want to be a police officer too and if you know anyone selling bulk seeds let me know. Thank you!IMG_6283.jpegSabal pic just because

Let me help you out in the nursery business, two approaches one sell seedlings and make money fast with a quick turnaround. But choose your varieties carefully, rare and exotic or landscaping varieties. Landscaping varieties you will need at least 5 years on some of the fast growing ones. Rare and exotic seedlings start selling them asap after they germinate.

Next approach a ten year plan with exotic rare stuff, choose super rare and exotic. Expect a large outlay for rare seeds if you can find them. But it sounds like you have another plan for your career, myself I would collect rare seedlings and grow them as a side business and in time you will be glad you choose rare stuff that is slow. Landscaping palms that market is a good one but your up against large corporations who grow mega amounts and have the chain stores market sown up with contracts. Good luck in your decision and your career.

As for seeds rare palm seeds is one option choose wisely and you will make good money. Myself iam on a ten year plan with rare and exotic palms to sell!

Thank you. I was looking into rare palm seeds but after I found out I needed a import permit I stopped not sure if there’s a age limit for getting a permit so I’ll have to convince a family member.

Iam unfamiliar with the import process into the US, you have one advantage on your side for growing rare exotic slow palms and that is your age. Due to the fact it takes so long to get advanced palms by the time your 30 years young you will have cracked into the exotic market and by the time you hit 50 you should have some pretty good stuff behind you that is well advanced!
