Feeler - banana pups and etc

Featured Replies

I've already got a 1g Dwarf Cavendish ready to go right now, $30. I'll have a couple more in a month. I've got 3 Mekong Giant pups growing, $30. I've got a Blue Java pup growing, $30. And last but not least...

I have a Musa Nono Pink pup growing now, $40?

I know this is PalmTalk but I also know some of us grow complimentary plants. I've got 4 different caladiums sprouting, a pile of various alocasias and corms, you're gonna have to get with me to check my stock. I've got a couple Jack's Giant bulbs left, 2 for $30, and some sprouted Thai Giant colocasias - if you want one of those let me know NOW because they'll be unshippable very soon. Get with me to pick from what's available, those are gonna have to go bare root because ain't no way I'm gonna try to ship a heavy 5g pot. They are HEAVY. You're gonna have to plant them or have a big pot ready.

Mekong Giants. 2 should be ready soon.

Cuban Red Dacca no ETA. They're barely nubs.

The meristem on this thing is just insane. I really don't know what to do with it over winter. I don't wanna cut it down, it's not cold hardy enough to plant, and I really don't want to have to do Karate Kid poses on a table I built to spray it with neem oil every couple weeks again. THAT SUCKED. A regular 5g pot buys me like what, 6" of clearance over the bucket? If that? That slice is gonna hurt my soul. Anyway.

I haven’t been into bananas for a while and I never heard of the NoNo. The mother plant that you have has nice color. Before I read the description I thought it was a Siam Ruby. I have had those before but they never did very well for me.

I have 2 Siam rubys that make loads of pups but they always stall out around june, and top out at about 2 feet tall

They've got pink, white, and yellow variegated versions. I'm growing white and yellow TC and ehhh I tried some yellow variegated seeds. I got 2 that sprouted and quickly died on me. My pink TC didn't do well either. Apparently their foliage is a little sensitive. Lowes had them wrapped up in these heavy clear plastic velcro sealed collars.

Yep. That’s what happened to mine. I couldn’t keep up with cutting them off and the main plant would fizzle out. I tried a second plant and it did the same thing. The guy who I got it from blamed it on tissue culture.

A bad batch is possible but like, pretty much everything other than palms is grown from tissue culture now anyway. I want a pair of Siam Ruby but I don't under any circumstances want to deal with having to do pest control on a wall of bananas ever again. It sucked.

So instead, this fall have a wall of bananas and papayas. At least the papayas aren't supposed to get over 5 foot. And I will not start giant colocasia bulbs in December again.

1g Cavendish is gone, don't worry. More coming.

2 mekong giants and a Blue Java, gonna let them root out.

I think it's silly that seeds and corms sell for this much, but I've got a good dozen or so Alocasia Odora variegated Batik/Snow/Blizzard, $15 each for yall and more for everyone else. Kinda been on an Alocasia kick lately so if you're looking for something, just ask. Mother Alocasia pictured, my phone crashes every time i try to get the corm pics. 20260518_020105.jpg20260525_094914.jpg20260518_014608.jpg

You really need to wait for those Musa itinerans pups to get larger before attempting to separate them. That one on the left looks like there's almost no corm. I would just pot that one up and see if it lives before trying to sell it.

Yeah. I'm gonna sit back and let them marinate. I trimmed all the lower leaves off. I had no idea just how deep these went - they go A LOT deeper than the dwarf Cavendish pups. I think next time I either unpot or go in at an angle with a bread knife....... this was not a fun endeavor.

I need a robot lawnmower with pontoons on it so I can get a space cleared out for it now that I know it makes babies like Nick Cannon.

Yep. One is in the compost bin and one got cut down to the soil.

I've got a couple of Red Dacca that are DEFINITELY ready to be seperated and potted. I've also got a bunch of Alocasia Portora pups i need to seperate and pot. It's just been too hot to do anything and i haven't had any energy the past week.

It's being funny about letting me upload a couple pics. Red Dacca pup potted up. $40? I don't think i put a price on these. Dm for all the pics you want. Last pic is the mom, 6ft or so.

Bump. Got another Red Dacca pup and a ground grown Blue Java pup ready to be dug up. Down the pipeline I've got 3 more Musa Pink nono pups. $40 for the Red Dacca and Blue Java, 1g size. When the pinkies are ready I'm bumping the price of them up to $60 plus ship. Might have another Mekong ready or close to it. These are significantly larger than the $15-30 starter plants floating around. And these didn't start off as a bag of Chinese goo.
