What's going on with this Sable?   It's bleeding from many places.  Most of the sap is hard but some is still soft.  It has pooled on the ground.

It may help to see the entire palm.

Perhaps a lightning strike?

Here's a photo of the entire palm.

Lightning strike is my guess, too. If so, and damage is as severe as you tell us, palm is probably a goner. Lightning kills countless palms in FL. Take a wait-and-see approach to find out if it collapses over time as it may be dead and not know it yet.

Have you seen indications of weevils and borers? Has anyone put up a ladder to inspect the crown for signs of lightning strikes or insect pests?

The gouges look suspiciously the same size. Perhaps someone took out some anger on it with a golf club or machete???

Perhaps someone knows how quickly a crown collapse occurs.

Using a golf club would be quite an expensive tantrum 😬

😂 Easily within the top 7 or 10 " biggest life mistake / serious regrets" anyone could make? =  Having a Golf club in  ..any...  hand / Finding one's self lugging that crap around at any time,  anywhere.

End result of such a choice? =  A plethora of reasons to be filled with rage.

Do direct " putt putt angst "  away from any palms however,  ..except Queens.. please :D
