A nursery over the hill in the SFV is selling this royal for $500.

My friend, that could be worth much more. Jubaea chilensis is very expensive per meter of trunk. Expensive like a tall palm tree.

Majesty, 100%..    Regardless,  that poor thing should've been plopped in the ground / shoved out the door once at the point where it's toes were trying to escape out the drain holes of a 15 or 20 Gal.. 

Planted as a 5gal and treated right,  both would probably be bigger than that thing is at this point.  

Heck, chunky Majesty planted from a 3gal might even be about the same size  ..or bigger. 

$500, + tax, and whatever they might charge to transport,  and /or  install?    Fast growing palm like this,  or a Royal?  =  I'll start small and save the un necessary spending of $$.

Love this forum, that’s why I paused. At first I thought not bad for a mature specimen. But perhaps better to buy smaller and I don’t really want a majesty.

Yeah, a Royal Palm would have a long bright green crown shaft on its trunk beneath its canopy of fronds. $500 sounds reasonable for a Majesty that big but starting out with a vigorous younger one would probably make more sense.

This is what you get for $600 in Australia a stunning Geonoma atrovirens. Worth every cent. Consider if you want that $500 palm, look at what it has taken in years and water to grow it, I don’t hesitate to buy a palm I want if you want that palm buy it!

California prices are 2x to 3x Florida prices. Between commercial taxes and regulations, everything is expensive.
