Two palms on eBay one an absolute cracker of palm worth every cent; the other well iam no expert but I think it needs a proper identification!

Yes, I was thinking of sending them a message. But iam sure they are quite aware of what they have, buyer beware. Also I think anyone with half a palm collecting brain would be onto the fact it’s not a pyriformis!

One in the background definitely C elegans, I thought likely C cataractarum for the palm in the foreground but unsure with the mass of fronds. I wonder whether they’ve uploaded the wrong photo, the description says pyriformis seedling so it’s a strange error to make. Worth sending a message I think. 
 

would be good to somehow get that Lepidorrhachis into a botanic garden. Wonder if Hobart has any budget for this kind of thing @Jonathan

They might...I could ask the director. However he might ask the vendor about the plant's provenance, which could be difficult to explain!

I thought cataractum at first, but I thought I could see a elegans trunk in there. Either way buyer beware on that seller! 
The lepo  came from @Tassie_Troy1971 He knows all about that one!

If the garden wants it, Troy knows him that’s where he got it from. But it’s one dam fine palm you don’t see for sale, iam half tempted to get it. But you guys have the edge on that cool grower!

Hi Harry I have seen quite a few sellers who are very legitimate. And I have also seen quite a few who send out basically dead sticks, and as for seed purchases many a dud seed has been sent out. Yet in the other hand I have also purchased a lot of good seeds. The old saying buyer beware is very true. But for now I will say 99.9 percent are legit, but with over a million plus sellers do the maths on that 0.1 percent and there’s quite a few cowboys in the game so to speak!

This plant has now been taken down off ebay, which I think is probably for the best.
