I know dumb question and people probably prefer the look but same thing with windmills and they skin them. I probably won’t skin mine unless I get an extra but mostly just curious. Thanks.

... and considering it's a multi-trunked small-scale palm, hardly worth the effort IMO.

They get huge and do trunk here down south.  Growth that takes decades in the wild shady forest can be achieved in years in gardens with full sun, irrigation, and no root competition.  And males often tend to put all energy into one trunk.  Still I would not skin their trunk—it’s just not right

I would imagine it would look like a clean trachy. Also on a related note has anyone skinned a saw palmetto? There are tons of tall ones out there surely someone has thought of it.

Here's an older pic of mine that I tried to skin 😂 It just ended up looking like a trachy at the end. I might just keep doing it just to see what it looks like.

Yea , I have one that would put up quite a fight if I tried to clean the trunk! Harry77896230988__2816FE44-4792-40BE-8593-114CF6593EF5.thumb.jpeg.f61ff79100ede25c5e69003b074dce9d.jpeg

First year in the ground! It is just starting to harden off after cutting the brown fronds off . Full sun ,  south facing slope. In another year I will be able to tell you if gophers like them or not.🤬

That’s good skinning now if you were going down to the bare ya know past the old leaf brackets that would be bad
