"The only major dangers to this palm are cold (can't handle temps below the mid 20sF"

Ravenea rivularis

Temps in the mid 20's will fry the fronds.  They're not very leaf hardy but pretty bud hardy.  I had a small one survive 22°F unprotected in February 2021.  Probably need to add protection below that.

Yeah maybe as it matures in ground it gets more hardier I’ll protect it while young and see and they are super cheap to replace

Yeah I’ll still experiment since they are super cheap to replace I heard the bud can handle 22 degrees probably only when mature

I tried one this winter. It had minor to moderate damage at 29 degrees. Significantly damage at 26 but it was going to survive. Then freezes of 22 and 20 degrees finished it off. I was hoping for a couple mild winters to start it off and get a few years with it.

A simple answer to your question.  NO. 9a is way too cold for a Majesty palm.  As someone earlier mentioned , they're pretty bud hardy but fronds will burn in the upper 20s but since this palm is easy to get and cheaper than dirt , go for it.

I wrap this one below 25°F  and provide heat if in the teens. They are very fast growing in ground.

Yeah I’ll probably buy more and try it in different parts of my yard and I’ll see maybe I’ll put it next to my kentia

I'm in a z9a and I grow a couple Majesty palms in containers.  My cold winters would fry them instantly.  They are kind of sensitive to cold weather.  Even temperatures in the upper 30s will cause some kind of browning on leaflet tips , thats my experience at least.  I'm not sure about your climate but leaving them in full sun can cause the same browning on the tips of the leaflet. These are tropical palms. They love high humidity and filtered sunlight for best looks. Good luck .
