Hey all, here’s a new one. My Sylvester’s seemed to handle the 20F freeze this winter foliage wise with minimal burn seen. Yet one of mine had the spears die. I pulled Mushy spears out of an otherwise healthy plant. And now it’s just a hole in the top with no new growth visible. I did the peroxide treatment but if the growth point is dead then I’m guessing I’m going to lose this palm. What do yall think. Here’s some photos. IMG_5613.thumb.jpeg.b892100c6b50140b3ace9f73d86822a4.jpeg

I think it will be fine.  It looks like the damaged frond on the right in your last photo can be easily pulled out as well.  Follow up the hydrogen peroxide with some fungicide such as Daconil and keep the area dry.  You should see a new deformed spear push up but it might take a few weeks.

Thanks Fusca. Will do.

I’ve had a lot of palms get foliage damage and survive from the spears this time the foliage is ok and the spears are in trouble.
