The old saying down under is have you got a spare minute, well if you have two minutes to spare you have got over 70 varieties of palms packed into just this part of the garden. A small amount in comparison to other collections. I don’t know how many varieties I have in the ground or in the greenhouses waiting to get planted. I do know I counted 70  in this section of the garden alone. Plus whatever other varieties of plants are in there. The garden is getting close to 30 years old and iam not stopping until that day they throw my ashes in the garden. And even then the palms will have their say as to who really rules the garden.
I will quite happy knowing I fed them one last time @happypalms!

Richard is fantastic! How I wish I could live in a place like this! Shall we move? I'll take yours with all the land and palm trees, and you'll take mine house? but I already know the answer, it's no 😥

Nice walk through the garden . Lots to see there . Many years ago there was a place we visited in Maui that had a small nursery and a botanical garden that was huge . For a small fee you could take a self guided tour , most of the plants were well labeled . The guy seemed to be doing pretty good business . The small palms came with nematode certs so they could be shipped or brought back to the mainland. He wasn’t getting rich but he did ok. Harry

Overhere in Holland, winter is coming to an end and so I am slowly bringing my palms in the garden again, especially Chamaerops humilis, Phoenix canariensis and dactylifera and Washingtonia robusta. The first Cycas revoluta is outside too as are Citrus aurantium myrtifolia and Citrus lemon. Fortunately, they all can cope with incidental frosty nights!

That’s part of my wish a mini botanical garden, I will collect any plant so long as it doesn’t have a big weed potential. And no certificate for my plants I couldn’t handle the government bureaucracy ruling me it’s bad enough importing seeds. One day I will make a few bucks!

I envy your liberal government, Australia has way too many rules and regulations! 🤣

This is a few pics from our self guided tour . You could easily have a @happypalms self guided tour . I can’t remember what the fee was but it was well worth it . It wasn’t crowded but there were enough people going through to pay for the cost of the upkeep and a bit of income for the owners. HarryIMG_0263.thumb.jpeg.e1476bc997377b35b483762a6ecdb648.jpeg

The pathways had plenty of shade in the tropical sun .IMG_0264.thumb.jpeg.9a9d06efc292c720f05c29e602dd9d67.jpeg

A jingle of tropical plants much like yours. IMG_E0266.thumb.jpeg.e23da65bc2ee1e9ec918853a609cc834.jpeg

“ C’mon Dad , we aren’t even half way yet! 😊 “My daughter actually liked the Koi pond and was patient throughout the day as I took my time to see as much as possible.
I could see this for you as a way to share your love of your garden and help fund your obsession! Harry

LOL  Made the mistake 30 years ago of planting an African Tulip tree.  Spreads seeds by the MILLIONS and they pop up ALL OVER THE PLACE.  Problem is the wife LOVES the flowers and won't let me cut it down.

Mega weed problem those things, in Australia they kill the native bees, they get stuck inside the flowers. Glad I never planted one!!!

Beautiful garden that one, happypalms is by appointment only so no self guided tours here.
Hopefully you have inspired your daughter to have an intrest in plants.
My niece stays with me every now and then, cmon I say we will plant a few palms, in a teenager voice palms are boring what do you do that for, argh but who rings me up when she is back home and is happy to tell me the palms you gave me are still alive I like them.
Hopefully we leave the next generation something to enjoy, the love of gardening and palms.
