Sylvester Palm Tree help

Featured Replies

Hey guys, is there a liquid fertilizer I can use for the Sylvester tree and other palm trees?  There is turf cut around them and then rocks.

Must it be liquid? I only ever use granulars so I wouldn’t be of much help. Your palms look pretty healthy at least.

I figure with the rocks, it would be easier to pour down into the roots, vs fighting the rocks with the granular

Just get something that's about 4-1-5 or 4-1-4 NPK with micronutrients. Palmgain must have something at that rate or close.

Zone 9b: if you love it, cover it.

I encounter this in my work. Couple choices :

-remove rock once a year and apply a 360day quality fertilizer below

-trunk injected micronutrient blend like PalmJet product. Best done in cooler months like March then again October.

Maybe buy a 2-1-3 ratio of granular. Then try dissolving a half cup into a 5-gal bucket of hot water. Maybe start with some boiling water. Mix it in one of those orange buckets and then let it cool down 2 or 3 hours.

Why? This would simply cause a short term nutrient spike in my experienced opinion, then whats frequency of reapplication?

This is the same as the request for a liquid fertilizer.  If a slow-release is desired, then granular is the way to go.

A liquid I would reapply at 60-day intervals. Three times during warm months.
