My double c.alba has fared very well here in N Florida- love it!  In anticipation of the upcoming mid 20 (F) temps over this weekend-I was inspecting and protecting , of course, and I  came across black discoloration at the base of my tree -first time ever. Kinda looking like mold but it’s hard. Anyone have  thoughts?

I don't think it's anything to worry about.  It does look like mold.  I'd only be concerned if the crown didn't look healthy and an open wound on the trunk.  Mid-20's shouldn't be any issue for these palms!  😄  I have three of them myself.

Thank you! The crown is 20 ft up and I hope all is well up there😂-but it’s been aIMG_5596.thumb.jpeg.132d2ea8543e2197652ed1b646c7cbd4.jpeg very healthy tree. There aren’t too many in this 9b area.

Looks good!  Those Phoenix roebelenii might get badly bronzed/fried tonight but they should come back.  They're pretty bud hardy.
