Hello, which species or hybrid of Phoenix is this? Thin trunk ~ 6in diameter, no signs of suckering. Thanks!

Syagrus hybrid. There's coronata in that.

i don’t see any spines so it probably isn’t a phoenix

It does look like Syagrus. There are some long spiky bits on some old frond bases with a rigid appearance on the leaflets, that’s what made me think it was a Phoenix. 
Here is a closeup of the old frond bases with the spiky bits:
