Hydriastele splendida

One beautiful palm from New Guinea. Clumping, colorful, well behaved, and attractive entire leaves. Copious amount of indument on the rachis and leaf veins. Been in ground for around twelve years.

I’ll add photos of the colorful inflorescence and seed if and when that happens.

Wow that is pretty. And it does look well behaved especially for a clumper.  Another one for the wish list some day!

Mike, they are also easy to take care of and pretty much bug free. That being said, I’m not sure how Hydriastele in general do in Florida.

I would keep it in the greenhouse in a pot I think. That one looks too good to risk outside here lol.  The backdrop to a hot tub in a greenhouse though? That would be awesome. It can hang with my Verschaffeltias in there all warm.
