Wow Allen. That is very fast growing. The only palm I have that may be close to that speed is a washingtonia.

That growth is slightly more than 2' per year on average. I would typically see that type of growth with trees that have reached a moderate level of maturity but not assured. There are a numbers of factors that permit that rate of growth, & I think this one has all the boxes checked.  Well done.

I planted a good size windmill in my front yard this summer, and after crawling all the way up till the beginning of December, it has opened one spear and working on opening another with a spear cranking out behind that one right now. All because i cut off half its crown to reduce water loss (this should have been done months ago). Curious to see what kind of growth i can get this next summer.

Thats some serious growth though, and a wonderful looking palm! Great work man!

It was potted. I wanna say it was 15 gallon size but I don't remember. It was definitely a big hole in the ground though haha

The most I ever got in one year was 36" of trunk on one of my windmills back in Oregon.  I had 36 in ground and the average was 18" per year, with a some outliers on either side.  More trunk per year as they got taller.  So I'm not at all surprised by your numbers.  Nice palm!

Teddy sent me the Rocket fortunei and seeds of the saggy cross. The baby rocket is in part shade and gets afternoon sun. It's not huge by any stretch of the imagination but it's def grown over the summer and the couple cold snaps we've had haven't phased it a bit. I'm stumped on the seeds, I had one community pot that blew up, and I need to separate them and the other pot - same soil same treatment same light, has one sprout lol. That's life I guess. I ain't mad, I've got plenty of them.

I can either say it's autocorrect or I can just say they're not aging well and play along

Lots of water and fertilizer? I wanted them kinda shaded so they don't get the hairy telephone pole look.
