Where can I buy mule palms in Europe

Recommended Posts

I can’t find anywhere that sells mule palm seedlings or even larger ones but only seeds I’ve never had success with seeds so I’m asking if anyone knows where I can buy seedlings in Europe

Only mule palms I've seen in Europe were a bunch Nigel from Hardy Palms brought in, I believe, from Florida. Worth contacting him because they were a decent size and he could probably get more from the same place : www.hardy-palms.co.uk

Totally agree. I don't buy 1 or 2 leaf seedlings at any price.

Is this guy always so expensive?

I don’t think that banybalms ship to Greece either way not sure tho

He does ship to Greece. I've purchased from him 3 or 4 times. I've bought cheaper palms in Spain but that was before COVID when there were many more options available. There were a couple Spanish suppliers who no longer update their websites and many Dutch ones before as well.  These were reasonable sized plants whenn I purchased them:

Carlos was a great supplier. 80cm Beccariophoenix Alfrediis cost 20 eur pre-covid. He had lots of other great values. His website is still up but he no longer updates anything - not clear if he's even in business anymore:  http://www.paratujardin.com/?fbclid=IwY2xjawO6E0FicmlkETBQaDdwQng2TWc1a2tUMFVhc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHtjdiOQRlVQ8LPlrNDR2GYtoGVbSdo6GxVLldaIMIEU73kVBHIwMGGUp18fw&brid=4dXKZHJkHOklxrSZ8kS8dg

Quite a few palms were available from places like OBI (Prktiker is somehow affiliated with OBI). All Dutch produced. You could buy things like 60cm spindle and triangle palms for 20 eur each - a size ready to go straight in the ground. Now they all seem to have just the Dutch coconut palms that very few can grow and end up in the compost quite quickly. These are the only size spindle palms I know of available in Europe today and they cost 10 eur, sometimes even closer to 20 eur:

He told me he only ships to mainland Greece and only after I begged him. And the shipping cost for one palm was 75 euro.

Zone 9b: if you love it, cover it.

I would gladly pay his shipping cost if it meant Beccariophoenix in the size he was offering at the time. I contacted him on facebook and got no reply, so I assumed they were sold out. I hope he has them again - they have pratically dissapeared from the European market unless you want a small seedling.

Wow the spindle deal sounds crazy do you maybe have a link or don’t they display it on the website and I’m guessing you ordered from the German store ?

That spindle is from a guy up in Germany called palmenmann.de who used to bring in lots of inventory late spring and had some real exotic stuff at very reasonable prices for decent sizes. Now, he has mostly cold hardy palms like most of the Dutch sites have moved towards as well. 20 eur used to buy you something like this: image.png.7c105e3575c7c4e03419c730534dc404.png
