Winter 2025/2026 – what does your garden look like, when was the first frost? Lowest temperature so far? Number of frost days so far?

Featured Replies

We had our first frost in the community garden on November 19, with temperatures dropping to -3.5 degrees Celsius/25.7 degrees Fahrenheit. On the night of November 23, temperatures fell to -7.2 degrees Celsius/19.04 degrees Fahrenheit. So far, we have had five days of frost, but the maximum temperatures have always been above freezing.

How does your garden look?

So far the lowest temperature was recorded on November 30, at –0.6 C. This was the only day with a minimum temperature below 0 C.

Your exotic plants look great 🤗, Matteo.

I'm glad it hasn't dropped below -0.6 degrees Celsius where you are.

For me the first and only frost so far was an early one on November 11th or thereabouts at 29F/-1.6C. Bananas damaged but alive. Majesty palm with minor damage but all other palms happy.

No frost yet here in Houston.  None in the forecast right now.

Yesterday was the tip of the iceberg, so to speak our hope.

-8.6°C / 16.52°F early in the morning down in the community garden, then 4.2°C / 39.56°F during the day.

On the balcony, it was -3°C / 26.6°F, and during the day, it was 10°C / 50°F in the shade.

35 in the November cold snap, just beaten by 34.8f with light frost overnight on 12/30. About 20 miles north of Orlando. Z9b, but hoping this our third 10A+ winter in a row.

Some frost damage on exposed sea grapes, but 30+ species of in ground marginal palms and tropical trees all looking great.

3 nights in the low 30s so far this winter lowest being 30.8 for about 10 15 min. Only 1 hour below freezing so far this year with 0 damage on anything.  Hopefully no more to come but we know that's asking a lot.
