Fungus Identification and what to do?

Just had some gnarly rains here in San Diego and noticed one of my Dacs has this fungus growing about 5 feet up the trunk.

What is it? What should I do about it?

While my mycology skills are pretty green behind the ears,  to me,  this looks like some type of slime mold family fungi.

Watch it though ..start seeing shelf like " conks"  form?  ..that could hint at something much more concerning.

Slime molds?  Pretty harmless ..just one of those things prolonged heavy rains can help make appear out of nowhere.

Edit.. slime molds are more closely related to amoeba and some seaweeds ..rather than fungi..

Like I said,  green eared here

...And not afraid to admit getting something wrong when I do. 👍

I noticed today , while cleaning up around the garden , some mushrooms growing under the palms . I think it is due to all the rainy weather we had last week. I haven’t seen that type of fungus before around here. . I would probably keep an eye on it . It may just resolve as the weather dries out. Harry
