This is published due to the efforts of Dr. Donald Hodel.  Effusive gratitude to him !

I have hand pollinated this plant and distributed the offspring as Anthurium sp. 'Loja'.  so now the lucky recipients has a true name for the plant.

Please don't ask about availability.  I have none, however I do plan to hand pollinate again, and the resultant offspring will be ready in 5 or 6 years !  :winkie:

Wow. Congratulations Darold! That's a really cool story behind this awesome little plant. I do think though, that the term "ardent plant fancier" needs to be added to your online bios and business cards.

That's exciting news, though I would have preferred Anthurium pettyianum, or A daroldii...still pretty cool Darold!

I don't approve of naming plants for persons, although this is common.  I prefer the 'old school' practice where the species epithet refers to a unique or distinctive detail of the plant.  Dr. Croat observed that he had never seen a species in the Belolonchium section with green berries.

Therefore it was my wish that it be named Anthurium 'green berries', (in Latin).

So, Dr. Croat and Dr. Hodel honored my wish for the name.   :)

Too modest...it will forever be Anthurium daroldpettyana in my mind!

Congratulations again.
