Looks as though the central and southern Queensland coast are in for a bit of a blow in the next few days with a possibility of a cyclone forming of the Mackay area.

I saw one prediction that it was shaping up like '74.

Just saw thai posted on a weather blog................

All this scepticism about this cyclone remind me of the floods of 1886 .. I remember saying to the wife that the emus were roosting in the old gum tree again which usually meant rain. Well she wouldnt have a barr of it..Luckily we lived on a high ridge and after 40 days of cloudburst rain (the nights were fine though) the entire surrounding area was flooded to the sea to a depth of around 50 mtrs.... I lost a lot of family during that time, mainly due to the cheap booze from the cruise ships that were calling to the house for supplies... White Pointers took my best milking cow, the ducks drowned and we had to eat Nanna after the second week. But we never complained!! So kids, dont listen to the BOM, just keep an eye on your EMUS. True Story...

There's always a Wally!

Hopefully there will be some decent rain to come with it that will fill up Wivenhoe dam and get everybody off the water agenda!

Being from hurricane country, I believe everything except the ducks drowning.  You must have some real "lame ducks" down under.   ???

Well, I'm definitely starting to get sick and tired of the wind and rain...it seems like it has been this way forever!

I shouldn't complain as it is better than being in drought. It is just a shame the weather does not co-operate. A nice holiday break for xmas and I'm stuck inside for the entire time as it is too wet and windy to play in the garden! So much for my plans to tidy up the yard..oh well!

The mountains behind me have had over 250mm (10 inches) of rain since yesterday. I've had about 100mm in the garden, definitely great for my palms, but a little sunshine would be nice!

Daryl,

Just taked to the folks up  at Childers and they said we'ed only had about 40ml in the past week but it hasn't stopped blowing all week.  Even some of the bamboo was starting to look tired.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the low up in the gulf when it comes over.

Happy New Year.
