I came across this palm and was compelled to share it.  This is labeled as Caryota ‘pesquito’.

Looks like a miniature Mitis.  The fronds are much smaller Mitis.  I would say 50%.

Hi my friend Jonathan, it looks like a bunch of celery, it was just what I needed, you made me laugh!

I think there are a lot of plants in pots, and they haven't grown much because they don't have space.

Not yet.  With Winter coming, I wanted to see how it handles the cold.

Those are suckers.  I don’t believe it’s stunted from over planting.  There are several in different sizes.  As I said, it looks like a C Mitis, but on a miniature level.

If you are sure that they are suckers, then you did well to buy it

I wouldn’t worry about cold in Huntington Beach . My Caryota Mitis are quite happy here in Santa Paula , about 20 miles from the beach. They grow very well if they get just a bit of shade and lots of water. Mine are planted on all sides of my house and the ones that get direct sun aren’t as dark green as the shady ones but they all grow very well . I just cut two more flowering trunks down and the new pups are very happy. Harry

I have Mitis and variegated Mitis growing as well.  Was just not sure about the pequito because it is new.  I couldn’t find much information on it.

Joe, I saw some of these in the last year being sold as indoor plants, but I don't recall where I saw them.  While there are some Caryota mitas growing in the neighborhood here in Leucadia, most look a bit ratty.  Perhaps it is the salinity of our water that brown tips the leaflets, but I passed either way.  It will be interesting to see how this performs for you compared to your C. mitis and variegated C. mitis.

I was researching Caryota monostachya, I don’t think that it is the same palm.  Pesquito suckers a lot more and the leaflets are much smaller.
