A couple days ago we took photos of some of our palms catching up on some last minute growing while the early fall weather is still warm. We started in the back yard facing south and overlooking the Isabelle Canal. We've been blessed by a lack of hurricanes and tropical storms compared the the past few years so what wasn't killed by the likes of Ian has had a chance to recover.

Looking good Meg!  👍  That's a Sabal you don't hear much about.  Definitely looks different from my similar sized mexicana.  Looks like it is seeding, is it the first time?

Some stuff in there I have not seen or heard of before, and I'm a nerd that reads a ton lol. looking good!  Thank you for all of your update photos as they grow, I appreciate the reality dose you give with your posts showing how growing really is here (and what it's not)

Thank you so much for sharing your garden with us. Amazing , especially after a recent hurricane. I remember that and the devastation it caused. Great collection and very nice photos . Harry

Looking great! @PalmatierMeg What’s your secret for controlling weeds? I don’t see a single weed in your garden. Also your Pritchardia’s look flawless. Nice work all around.

Thanks for the correction. Which Ptychosperma you think? I know about the praemorse leaflets but didn't notice them.

We have a part time gardener come in 1x per week to help us keep up for $X per hour plus plants for his plant-loving wife

I've discovered Pritchardias grow great here in SWFL. So do Livistonas but are tricky and prone to fall in cat 3+ hurricanes. Palm lovers should focus on tropical palmate palms and back off the crown shafted pinnate palms - yeah, I know that will never happen.

Wow Meg, your garden is recovering nicely!  Its good to hear you have soldiered on after the cat 5 hurricane damage.   The prichardias look very nice.  I have one just like the one you dont have identified, like a "spitting image" we used to say.  Possibly P. munroi.   I am hoping for good rains to come your way and continue the strong growth in your garden.  That sabal causiarum has really taken off.  Best wishes for strong continued growth!

Great photos and a visually appealing layout!  The photos represent the end-result of a lot of work, sacrifice, struggle, frustration, and ultimately perseverance and improvisation.  Love the uncommon Livistona species!

I'm sure @Cbigler is taking good care of the former Sabal guards - the place looked great when I was there this summer.

@PalmatierMeg great photos, thanks for sharing!!!  I'm really impressed by the Pritchardia, I thought they really just hated the FL combination of heat and humidity.  And as soon as I get some canopy going I'm going to try Dictyosperma again...incredibly elegant draping fronds.

Did your "whole leaf" aka "Idolatrica" Elaeis Guineensis survive Ian?
