I have over a dozen Livistona chinensis and two of the short ones had leaves that are at the eye level sticking out into the walkway, so my wife took out the lopper and about to cut off five fronds with green leaves.  I said wait what are you doing?  She said she wanted to cut them off because the leaves have pointed ends and at that height when she walked past they get on her face, eyes and nose so she got annoyed after a while and went to the lopper.  I said we should wait till the leaves turn brown chopping them off prematurely is not good...so after some back and forth we reached a compromise.

She put away the lopper, I went and got a pair of scissors and trimmed off the pointed ends of the five leaves so they won't stick out so far to get in one's face.

So now some of the leaves kind of have that L. grandis look.🤣

Seems like a good compromise. We want our palms to grow their best without poking anybody. Planting next to a walkway is tricky.
