Mule palm seed pods-prune ir no?

Featured Replies

I have a beautiful and healthy mule palm. It has two seed pods growing on it. One a bit older that is drying out. A second newer one that has red vines coming out.
Is it recommended to prune them out? If yes how? Just cut them out without scarring the trunk or fronds?
Or leave them? They are in an area that isn’t a problem with being messy or little chance of new seedlings growing.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes. Just remove them. You might be able to do it with a searated knife, but a reciprocating saw makes quick work of the job and will also come in very handy for pruning any fronds or other woody materials in your yard. If you don't already have one, you should get one. 😄

Cut them off. Mule palms are aptly named - like the animal they are almost invarianbly sterile. No seedlings to pull up.
