LIVE Windmill Palm For Sale - 15-20 Foot

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello all,

I just stumbled across this forum recently. I am from the Chicago area and have been growing palms outdoors here since 2009.

I currently have a 15-20 foot Windmill palm (Trachycarpus fortunei). Over the past 16 years of growing this palm, I have boxed it up each winter...A 2x2 frame and wafer board walls, with foam panels for insulation and small heater fans set on low inside. Unfortunately, this palm has now grown too tall to box up and protect during the winter. Thus, I have made the hard decision to sell this palm. I am open to any and all offers, as I would love to this palm to go to a good home and continue on with its life, instead of having it die outdoors this winter. You will have to have a way to remove and haul the palm.

Here is a picture of the palm.

It appears that there is no edit button to take care of that issue?

One can only edit in the 60 minute period after a post is made, no worries, just name a nominal price.  The edit feature is behind the three small dots in the upper right corner, left click there.  :greenthumb:

That is impressive growth for the Chicago area. Unfortunately, I think it will be hard to find someone to remove this for transplanting. Unless someone has an arboretum, they will be in the same predicament as you are. Are there any botanical gardens in your area?

I've got a Starbucks gift card with $6.48 on it if you deliver to Mississippi 😂

Seriously yeah that's great for Chicago, man. Good luck.

Yea, I figure the chance of finding someone that is actually interested in wanting to make the effort to remove it and transport it to their location will be low.

I did reach out to the Chicago Botanic Garden, but never ended up getting a response back.

We'll just go with a price of free.

With it getting late in the year and with snow/cold soon on the horizon, I just want it to go to a good home to continue to thrive.

I think you're probably not going to get any takers this late in the game.  Maybe you can pull off one more protected winter and find someone or someplace to take it once spring is here.  You have done a great job with it,would be a shame not to give it a chance.
