What is causing my Dypsis Rosea to lean?

Featured Replies

See attached pics.  I do not know what is going on here.  If I do not have this staked up, it will lean over like you see.  Looks like it is going to snap off.

I am unsure if this is an overwatering or underwatering issue.  The current soil is dry for the top 1" of soil and then is somewhat damp to my finger below that.  I'm paranoid about overwatering because I killed my first D. Rosea that way.  This palm had two trunks, one of which died, so I cut it off at the base.  I'm afraid this last stalk is going the same way, but looks quite normal and healthy otherwise.

Related or unrelated, what fungicide do you all recommend for palms in pots, since I seem to struggle with root rot, especially in the wet summers here in south Florida.

Thanks for the help.

Good question, has the palm fallen over and been lying on its side?

No it just started drooping over.  Makes me think of some bud rot, but it looks perfectly healthy otherwise.  Should I treat with a fungicide?

It’s a mystery to me, had it been fertilised, cold exposed. You could use a systemic fungicide one called Agricola we use in Australia, followed by the manufacturers recommendation for the rate and possibly go a little under that rate to be on the safe side. A foliar fungicide for leaf fungal infection may help but a systemic is what your after. And how is the palm now?
