My distichia just refuses to give up, flowering again for the 5th time. It just keeps on hanging on. Still a beautiful flower and over the last 4 years or so it’s becoming a nice little flower to spot in the garden. The bees absolutely love it. No seeds yet so iam assuming a boy and girl need to meet up. And that’s not going to happen with just  one in the garden.

Yours keeps the record. MIne is still in the third flowering year. Wallichia produces alternatively (same individual) either female or male inflorescences. It is possible though that in a female inflorescence exist few odd hermaphrodite flowers now and then. Normally female inflorescences appear first and male ones later in the life of the plant.

So you really need a few to get any chance of a good amount of seeds then . Intresting they alternate in flowering sex’s, you learn something new everyday. Thanks

Linda Wallichia Richard. I've seen the pages that sell the seeds online. It's an interesting palm tree. It looks like a tree, but it's actually a palm tree.

They possibly may grow in a microclimate in your garden, no frost but definitely cool tolerant, I like the way leaves are opposite to each other.

It's like a unique palm tree. It looks like you took it from the Garden of Eden, Richard.

I just noticed this great big spike coming out of the palm tree on the Wallichia I hope it’s a different sex to the other flower spathe, I have never seen two at once before. @Phoenikakias I hope it’s what you say it is. Very intresting!

Hey, Richard, I appreciate it, friend. But I don't want to take advantage. Wait until your palm trees start producing more seeds. You've already helped me enough. I'll have to send you some seeds myself. You're an excellent gentleman and friend.

If it sets seeds iam sure there will be plenty to go around I already have a heap of Wallichia seedlings. And would only put in about 50 seeds, I have bigger fish to fry so to speak.

If I get more Juania Australis seeds, I'll send them to you, Richard. They're a bit tricky to get because they're from Robinson Crusoe Island (Juán Fernandez).

Thank you. I won’t count my chickens before they hatch, but this is the best sign I have seen this palm do in the way of setting seed.

Your Richard palm tree is at a very mature age. It's fully developed, so it's more vibrant and active in its bloom than before.

Age is good for us all, Richard. Whether we're old or young, only God can make us eternal.👍🌴

Richard, here is!is mine with all three inflorescences, the older obe being female and the rest two  younger ones male. Interestingly each one is shorter in length than the previous one(s).

Very interesting and great to see, have you got seeds yet. My one has never had the two spathes once.

From this one no seeds, only duds. But from a previous specimen I did get some seeds.
