The CRB hit my 25 year old Pseudophoenix vinifera. Have been looking up into the crown for damage to fronds and saw none. "Injected" some poison (Imicide) early this year, just in case.
Two days ago I found the top half a a frond on the ground. It had been chewed off from the rest of the frond. So yesterday I tossed around it Imicide granuals and today I injected it again w/the liquid.
The liquid is EXPENSIVE 24 capsuls cost about $185. So w/tax that's at least $8 each. Took 11 this morning. Hope I'm in time to save this tree.

Ah, no good.

There's always something that makes gardening a challenge, for me winter and drought, for you voracious insects...it's easy to forget that even Hawaii has it's palmy problems.

Here I have the red palm weevil, it destroyed about ten of my first palm trees that I put in the garden, large plants that were about 30 years old.

Tragic attack on a fine palm. Knowing this pest is on Hawaii Island too is extremely disturbing.

Oh no!  Pseudophoenix are such a rarity in Hawaii and that is an amazing specimen. I hope it makes a full recovery.

I would say most people are against using such deadly chemicals, but what can you do, just sit back and watch 25 years of growing palms just to lose them to a beetle. Bring out the chemicals in this case.

Yea, it's supposed to kill bees and make coconuts uneatable.  But like you said I've invest at least 25 years in many of my palms.
