Dear Wal  :)

Nice topic and i like it !  :)

Dear Paul  :)

Lovely stills and by the way does your statue has a tail ? If so its none other than lord Hanuman, devotee of lord Rama.Just some information on hindu mythology. And the weapon its carrying is called gatha or Gattam.

Now to my favouriate stills...its taken from the chennai horticulture society, and clayton & me are of the opnion is that its a Corypha Macropoda, which is more indegenoius to indian subcontinent,in perticular to S.India..its leaves are more blueish silver like a copernica hospita or breha Armeda..? And that still does not do any justice to its leaf colour.

Really great images everyone. Paul, I recognize the statue as your avatard, only with less colorful lighting. He looks like Ymir, from the Harryhausen film "20 Million Miles to Earth". Hope I haven't offended Hanuman now.

I'll have time over the next few pics days to snap a few and add them here.

Amazing. It is hard to believe your garden looks so green for going through 1C (30F).

That is the price of posting high res photos.  The one in post 3 is the one that did it.  I don't mind to get the detail, but then I probably have a higher res monitor (less scrolling) than most.

If we could have the user id info on top instead of the far left where there is obvious space wasted, things would be okay. I'll go back to making my pics smaller (640s) if everyone else did.

More palm, Wal? Where are you going to put them  :D  :D ? Planted 18 shade palms yesterday under temporary shade between my 2 Pride of India (we were hoping the canopy will meet in the next few years). Looks quite good actually... very happy with the results, mostly areca & pinanga.

We are building another temporary shade today, probably will have stevensonia (or whatever you call them these days), calyptrocalyx, ptychosperma waitianum, hopefully silver joey. You should come over next year, the garden has evolved quite a bit since you came. I might try to take photos today, if it is not too wet. It has been raining non stop for 4 days now.
