Nature is healing.

I need some Filifera seed. And some Denny's.

@TonyDFW Love the Washingtonia filifera specimens!

@JohnAndSancho Good idea on the Denny's.  I don't feel like cooking tonight, either.

A bad winter really culls the herd.

You learn which ones are truly hardy and which are on borrowed time.

I used to have Moons Over My Hammy after I saw my gf down there. Like habitually.

Tony, I wonder if the dead ones could have been saved if you had been given the opportunity to work on them!  Those are impressive logs.

I saw that you guys hit 2 degrees F in 2021, is that true? That would be pretty amazing if all those filiferas held up through the 2 degree low.

The past 4 consecutive years have been very cold. Either annual low temps of 3F, 12F, 11F, and 12F in my area. Yet, these palms survived. Thus is what you should be planting in a hot summer zone 8a.

I love the color combo of the blue palms in front of the bamboo.

It might have been half a lifetime ago when I first saw a photo of your yard on some old forum with a green background and @TonyDFW it was like magic. Before that I had no idea there were long-term options beyond yucca over in my corner of Fort Worth. And I don't think anyone else did, either! You set me and a lot of DFW down a very rewarding path and I always look forward to your next photos. I would love to see a list of your best performers, from palms all the way to the colorful back yard.

The Brahea always blows me away. Like a single silver Serenoa in a swamp full of green.

Haven't been by in a few months to see how this one is doing, but probably the tallest Washingtonia in the northern suburbs that I'm aware of. There was also a hybrid of similar height that survived until the January 2024 cold snap.

About a block east of the willow gate lane/keller springs road intersection.

Two more in Carrollton that look a bit fried here in the early march street view. On corner of Rosemade parkway and bishop hill drive.
