Ok. Started my day off wrapping up some stuff to ship off.

IMG_20250910_082154.thumb.jpg.fc84fc487d14ab26835c7410bed2afb1.jpg

Wacky Sansevieria, cutting off of Mom's Rubber tree, a couple Bermudanas and a freebie giant Crape Myrtle branch for cuttings.. repotted the ficus and the snake with fresh Fox Farm because hey, my first customer ever is a repeat customer.. now I need to find a box that the Sansevieria will fit in without snapping 😭

So I come in and sit down for a few, take Sancho out, sit on my culo again and decide to go do more palmy stuff.

IMG_20250910_120134.thumb.jpg.f951dc827329975d298b2eec39463aa9.jpg

I very quickly realized that this refrigerator drawer for a Butia tray was a bad idea. Normally, when I realize something is a bad idea I do it anyway, but something stopped me. I put guesstimate of 15 in a community pot, another pot of Sabal Louisiana - and I just put all the seeds and remaining sprouts in there. Screw this handful at a time stuff. Full send. @teddytn sent me a boatload.

IMG_20250910_120143.thumb.jpg.0a12c7fd2630d27b179e0bfbd2ae2b54.jpg

Then I split up the ones in the Saints cup and good lord, I need to go back and see when I sprouted these - Late July or early August?

IMG_20250910_120257.thumb.jpg.3f713fe024dc8b19061f4a2a921de4ef.jpg

Yeah. That's a lot of roots for a cup, in a very short period of time. These things are gonna be monsters and I have an absolute 💩 load of them.

IMG_20250910_121324.thumb.jpg.b6bd2181aa9d58ac64fd6e504fde2dac.jpg

Speaking of a lot of roots in a cup, I've been saying for at least 2 months now I need to separate these Sabal Etonia from @kinzyjr before they become a big tangled mess that I can't handle. WELP. And I dunno if you can see in the corner, there's still some unsprouted seeds in there.

IMG_20250910_122026.thumb.jpg.6fe22d78f1f6a0283ab00164b4abb519.jpg

And that's about the point where I got shaky and needed to come sit down. The Drew Brees bunch is in the sun with everything else and the seed pots are on the patio under an overturned peach basket to keep the cats out. I'll throw them on the new heat mat when it shows up and I'll figure out something to do with the rest of these Butia seeds that @Scott W sent me.

Ok I didn't take pics because my phone is charging, but do you guys realize how insane it'd be if I spent time untangling these just to put them back in another community pot? That'd be crazy, right?

You'll never guess what I did.

At least it's a 3 gallon pot this time, and according to the label there are 6 months old, so I shouldn't have to worry about this for at least another year.

As always, I pick out one palm from a community pot or baggie to give its own pot.

With the Etonia, this one has a pretty impressive root system and had pushed the seed back up out of the soil and kept growing. You're a trooper. You get a Wendy's cup and the good soil.

IMG_20250910_194834.thumb.jpg.af758fdab851c26d7c81b3f86445bde0.jpg

I didn't want to put the biggest Louisiana in here because I kinda want the biggest one to do the biggest things, so this one was the runt. There you go buddy, back in your happy place with your grow light. I need you trunking by April.

IMG_20250910_194859.thumb.jpg.df2a0c9157eb35a97329fc09f5157800.jpg

Also I only managed to kill 2 Etonia and one was already dead. I snapped the roots on one and snapped the spear on another. So that leaves 17 in the community pot to go outside.

I now have a very dusty big table for heat mat and plants and room to hang some lights. These lights cost more than $1 but I'll of course make a post once I get them hung and dialed in. They _look_ nice, they have good reviews, and I got 2 2 foot 2 tube units for $25 with free FedEx so as long as they work I'm ok with it. It'll be nice to grow something someplace besides my bedroom.

Bien. Comencé mi día envolviendo algunas cosas para enviar.

IMG_20250910_081244.thumb.jpg.a7c83f607acbb1a5bda4763b71a0a141.jpg

IMG_20250910_082154.thumb.jpg.fc84fc487d14ab26835c7410bed2afb1.jpg

IMG_20250910_120143.thumb.jpg.0a12c7fd2630d27b179e0bfbd2ae2b54.jpg

You've had a good germination, my friend. I always wish you the best, and hope you succeed in this world of palm trees.

Muchas gracias mi amigo. Y tu, too. Lots of seeds.

Here's a list.

Yes, very interesting. We are all scientists. Because we like the botany of palm trees and all its science. We learn and we can teach it to everyone. Not everyone has this knowledge. Even more so the teacher who germinates palm seeds, which in itself is a science and an art. We must give life to life. Didn't you hear me?

That's a big part of why I love this so much. We're creating life and planting things that would never exist here in nature. I keep telling @happypalms I love his garden because it all looks like it belongs there and NONE of mine is gonna look like it belongs here. I brought it here, I created this. John put this here. John grew these seeds and John planted them here on an old farm in Mississippi. I'm leaving my mark on the world.

My friend, the world of palm trees exists. There are many who want to clone them, but this kingdom is already here; you just have to go for it. When a palm seed germinates, I'm as happy as seeing an angel. All those germinated seeds of Bismarckia, Chambeyronia, Archontophoenix, and countless other palm trees. This little human heart makes me so happy.

Welp I dunno if I mentioned this earlier or not, but one of the 2 chairs I had tied together fell apart when I moved it to start ripping out grass to compost. Anyway here's some pics. IMG_20250917_094104.thumb.jpg.3a9eacf6629a20884479d73e2d616667.jpg

CIDP. I dunno why, I'm just not feeling this one. I know I need to give it time to adjust and everything and I'm not the most patient person, but I'm just not feeling it's whole vibe.

IMG_20250917_094037.thumb.jpg.a20811deb137ab71251bb738d413fdb0.jpg

Caged nubbins. The Louisiana are blowing the Mexicana out of the water. I dunno why one side of the Mexicana is going nowhere either. Sun? Water? Maybe they got pulled up before I caged them? I dunno.

Louisiana again. These things were hella rooty when I put them in these pots already.

Maritima. You can tell which one got chewed on before I found these little baskets to cover them. One looks good, one looks freaking amazing.

IMG_20250917_093912.thumb.jpg.18c70f759f64f2cae8511c9765990254.jpg

Overview of the backyard stuff. Need to pull more grass and lay down more cardboard for everything that's in transit right now.

IMG_20250917_093827.thumb.jpg.dca22de90af004a552d5958cd8c069f9.jpg

Trachy hybrid nubbins. Time to give them a little more sun. The other pot of unsprouted seeds is a little soggy so it'll help them too.

Anyway the white powder is Bengal fire ant dust. Ants got into the giant rusty wash tub and if you bite me, I poison your whole civilization. Thems the rules.
