This year has been insane for my grape vines. I only have 3 vines at my allotment, which is right out in the countryside with no UHI and exposed to colder nights. Yet the production has been ridiculous this year and I haven’t done anything. No feeding or maintenance. I haven’t even tied them up or supported the vines with many of them just trailing along the ground. All I do is cut the stems back in December and then I harvest the grapes in August/September. One of the white grape plants is gigantic as well with about 20 arm sized clusters of grapes.

The photos below show 2 of my 4 harvests this season…

I harvested most of the purple ones early as I was scared that somebody would steal them at my allotment, which happened last year while I was away on holiday/vacation.

These ones are fully 100% ripe and the best tasting grape that I have ever had in my entire life!

Again I only have 3 plants and they have only been in the ground since 2021-22. They aren’t big branched things trailing along a wall or building like some of the ones you see. These are just 3 smallish individual plants out in the open at my allotment.

It has been a phenomenal year.

That is awesome production! I had three grapevines at my previous home in Oklahoma. I loved harvesting my own grapes, but I never came close to that much production in a season though. Congratulations.

Great, Ben. And that yield with such young plants. We're very happy for you 🤗

At the same time, we also harvested on Saturday at my in-laws' place near St. Gallen, 620 m above sea level / 2034.12 ft.
They still have one plant cutting from their father's main plant from 1950. It grows around the pergola and produces great results, even though the climate there is much cooler than where we live.
Here are a few impressions. The handsome 🤭 young man is me, of course, doing all the work myself 😁— no, of course not.

This yielded a total of around 27 liters of grape juice and
6 liters of Sauser.
(Sauser is produced when freshly pressed grape juice (also known as must) begins to ferment. Unlike fully fermented wine, the fermentation process is stopped early. The resulting drink has a low alcohol content and is rich in carbon dioxide.)

Friend, where did you get those wonderful grapes? You'll have a great blessing in your home with those grapes. Congratulations.
