I walked about 2 feet into the woods before one of the sticker vines got my ankle. Better me than Sancho I guess. That's what I get for making shorts and flip flops my official attire. Anyway I don't see an inflourence on this joker yet. I hope I didn't miss it again.

Expletive expletive expletive cats are at it again. I'm about to wrap this expletive up in rusty barbed wire.

I've already forgot which pots are Mexicanas and which ones are Louisiana. The Louisiana are faster and the Mexicanas are all gonna have sideways roots because I'm a hack amateur palm grower. But I learned.

Anyway there's 4 pots of nubs baking.

And these, I didn't expect them to take off this quick. And I really need to pot up the rest. These are the Trachy Waggy x Fortunei from @teddytn and I think the pollen came from @Allen's absolute UNIT of a Trachy. I just casually one foot slid them out of the shade. It's time for me to start labelling expletive pots.

Also don't hate on me but I bought some weed barrier. Yeah it's gonna be worthless but it was on clearance and I can put pots on it and lay it out around my planned and existing plantings. 3ft x 100 ft for $10? I'm ok with that.

It gets worse. Or better, depending on your perspective. And I've still got 20 more banana seeds to soak and sow and another packet of them in the mail. So what am I trying to do? Get Tamaulipas, Brazoria, and Silver Saw seeds. Because the 22 different species I've got germinating right now apparently aren't enough.

Edit: 23 species germinating. I forgot the Kentias.

Oh. And my friend Laura still has a Dwarf Cavendish she's holding from @5am and she's gonna get some more Butia seeds and a Bizzie sprout from @Fusca and send those with some more philodendron cuttings. I either need to plant a forest or become a better salesman.

Just for snakes, I would always wear long pants and boots out there.

I guess that's one positive about living in a feral cat colony. There are no snakes. I mean I'm sure there are, somewhere, and if I was going more than 5 steps in the woods yeah but the only snakes and mice I've seen were pretty much incapacitated

Okie dokie. It's 4:30 am and I did a panic repotting and then noticed a seedling pot knocked over.

These cats... Anyway, flash photography of upgrades to our cat proofing mechanisms IMG_20250906_041042.thumb.jpg.3acc0257fea473f00248ff2eac3165cf.jpg

One of the Sabal Mexicana was pulled up and the nub chewed up, so go.ahead. Get through this.

Crap..I forgot to take a picture, I went ahead and potted up the rest of the Trachy hybrid seeds, I used an older batch of coir and it had REALLY dried out, so I soaked it and mixed it and mixed some of the fresh coir and did everything professionally. Anyway while I was outside I went ahead and snapped another pic of the Butia hybrid. You can see the deformed nub spear behind this mammoth that it's still pushing. The older fronds are turning yellow and brown and I cut one brown one off so I'm hoping it's trying to push at least 2. Maybe I should feed it some Arbys to help it push it out.

You can see the deformed aborted nub spear pointing towards the camera behind the brown dead one - I am gonna be so freaking happy when it finally pushes this thing out. Y'all just don't know.

My $5 Wal Mart Clearance butterfly bush is blooming! You might have to zoom in to see around the weeds. 😬IMG_20250912_104246.thumb.jpg.d309c9f7057254abd11cb472baa0a8e1.jpg

Yes. I'm using the $5 clearance tag as a badge of honor.
