Ok. Y'all know I'm always anxious about something by now, so here goes.

This Filifera is a few years old, even though it doesn't look it. It's been through hell as a windowsill houseplant, then sunburned when put under the grow bulbs, then chewed up so bad I had to wrap 3 stakes around it just to keep it vertical, and now it's planted in a low spot that ponds a little in heavy rain. I'd like to move it someplace else, I just don't know where yet. Should I let it recover some more first, or is the whole "rip the band aid off" approach better?

Trachy Fortunei. This was I think Plan G on places I wanted to dig a hole to put it. I kept running into big heavy roots. I managed to hack the roots with my spade enough to get it in here, and cracked the spade in the process. Should I leave it be and let the Trachy roots grow around the other tree roots or find a Plan H? It's been here less than 48 hours.

Non palm related, my $5 butterfly bush is trying to bloom even though it's way tinier than it was when I bought it.

Did some chop and drop mulching around the crape myrtles and by the time I was done, I realized that most of this was crape myrtle growth.

And the kitten tree is setting seed. Sancho loves these two, we always have to go and find them and one of them tries to follow us but it's still too little to keep up.

Finally back to palm stuff, a better shot of the Birmy in its new home. It'll look better with some mulch and brick rearranging. IMG_20250904_160346.thumb.jpg.9878616cae80d6213bd74653726679f6.jpg

I would plant W.filifera on a berm with a fast-draining soil mix. They don't do well with our wet winters.

I'm just hesitant to move it again after all it's been through. i can mound it up no problem, i just don't want to kill it since it's proven itself to be quite resilient.

What about the Trachy growing in a mess of other roots?

@JohnAndSanchoIf you can divert the water in the winter months, keep the washy in place. It should do well with the extra water during the warmer months as long as it gets enough sun.

Trachys can coexist with other roots, but they tend to get robbed of moisture and nutrients in my experience. A little fertilizer and supplemental water during dry spells will alleviate this.

Get one of these mattocks . They will go through  roots easily . I always like to prep up a nice wide  and deep  hole when planting something .
